Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about MEPScore, the European Parliament, and how we track MEP activities.

How many MEPs are in the European Parliament?

The European Parliament has 720 allocated seats. As of June 2026, 718 MEPs are currently serving. MEPScore tracks all 742 MEPs who have held a seat during the 10th term (2024–2029), including those who have since been replaced.

What activities does MEPScore track?

MEPScore tracks the following parliamentary activities: reports (as rapporteur and shadow rapporteur), opinions, amendments, speeches in plenary, written questions, oral questions, motions for resolution, explanations of vote, committee and delegation roles, and vote participation. See the Data page for the full list.

Which MEP has the highest vote participation in Term 10?

The leading Member can change whenever new roll-call votes are added. The percentage covers roll-call votes held during the Member's recorded mandate period; it is not the same as plenary sign-in attendance.

What is the average vote participation in the European Parliament?

MEPScore calculates vote participation separately for each Member, using the roll-call votes held during that Member's recorded mandate period. Group and country averages depend on whether former Members are included, so each published average states its population and data date.

How can I compare MEP activities by country?

Visit any of the 27 country pages under /country/. Each page lists all MEPs from that country with their activity counts and rankings.

Where does MEPScore get its data?

Initial data is sourced from Parltrack, an open data project on the European Parliament. The dataset is kept up-to-date with the official European Parliament API.

Which political group has the most MEPs?

EPP (European People’s Party) is the largest political group in Term 10. Visit the EPP group page for details on its members and activities.

What parliamentary terms does MEPScore cover?

The 10th term is the primary current dataset. Terms 8 and 9 are also available. Recent records may be incomplete until the European Parliament publishes or revises the underlying documents.

How often is MEPScore data updated?

Data is updated as new official records become available. Recent records may be delayed, incomplete or revised. The site shows the date of the dataset currently in use.

Is MEPScore free to use?

Yes, MEPScore is free to access. Reuse of the underlying records remains subject to the terms of the European Parliament and Parltrack. When reusing a figure, cite MEPScore and the linked primary source.
