Overview
MEPScore compiles activity counts and metadata primarily from published European Parliament records and Parltrack. Some displayed figures are calculated by MEPScore from those records; their definitions and limitations are described below.
Sources
- Parltrack: structured datasets derived from official European Parliament records, used for the initial historical baseline.
- European Parliament Open Data Portal & API: official activity records, voting data, MEP profiles and role information, used for ongoing updates.
Data sources: current-term (2024–2029) figures are built from official European Parliament sources, the EP Open Data Portal and europarl.europa.eu. Figures for 2014–2019 and 2019–2024 come partly from archived Parltrack data (ODbL).

Update Cadence
Vote results are typically captured within minutes of a plenary sitting. The rest of the dataset — committee roles, amendments, reports and other activity records — is rebuilt on a weekly cycle. Recent terms may be incomplete until the Parliament publishes the underlying records.

Data use
MEPScore publishes its activity counts and derived figures for personal and non-commercial viewing on this site. The underlying parliamentary records come from the European Parliament’s Open Data Portal and are reused under its terms. MEPScore’s compilation, methodology and computed figures are protected as a database under Directive 96/9/EC and by copyright.
You may quote individual figures with attribution (“MEPScore, mepscore.eu, accessed [date]”). Bulk downloading, scraping, mirroring or republishing the dataset or substantial parts of it is not permitted without written permission. Journalists and researchers who need more than the site shows: write to mepscore@gmail.com.
How Vote Match is counted
- Members match when they made the same choice; Abstain counts as a choice.
- Votes not cast are left out. No minimum applies, so read each percentage with its vote count.
- Group match, Country match and Party match leave the Member out of the majority.
- Groups are those held on the voting day. Party match uses that day's party for 2014–2024 and the last recorded one for 2024–2029.
- Equal percentages rank by most shared votes, then surname.
- Roll-call records are used as published.
Limitations
Activity counts measure recorded output, not policy impact or the quality of the work. Records can be delayed, incomplete, or revised. Always interpret the data as a quantitative reference rather than a qualitative evaluation.
