Frequently Asked Questions

What data does MEP Activity Explorer track?

12 types of parliamentary activity: reports, shadow reports, opinions, amendments, written questions, oral questions, explanations of vote, plenary speeches, motions for resolutions, committee roles, delegation roles, and voting attendance.

Where does the data come from?

Primary data comes from ParlTrack.eu, which provides structured datasets derived from official European Parliament records. Additionally, automated updates via the European Parliament API ensure the most current records are available, often before they appear on other third-party sources.

Which parliamentary terms are covered?

The 8th term (2014-2019), 9th term (2019-2024), and 10th term (2024-current).

How many MEPs are tracked?

Over 2,400 MEPs across all three terms. The current 10th term has 720 MEPs from 27 EU countries.

Can I compare MEP activities across countries or political groups?

Yes. The Activity Explorer allows filtering and sorting by country, political group, and parliamentary term.

Does the data reflect the quality of MEP work?

No. The explorer shows activity counts only. It does not assess the quality, political significance, or impact of parliamentary work.

Is MEP Activity Explorer affiliated with the European Parliament?

No. It is an independent, non-commercial project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the European Parliament or any political group.

How often is the data updated?

Data is updated regularly through automated updates via the European Parliament API, supplemented by ParlTrack releases. This means new activities often appear on MEP Activity Explorer before other third-party sources.
